Hi,

I'm someone who is in their 30's and was diagnosed with a rare disease when they were in their late 20's. like... 1-2 in 100,000 people, going up to 27 in 100,000 in some provinces. I doubt you've ever heard of it, and it has a dumb, long name. Mortality rate is 50% if untreated, and it's paraneoplastic, so the first couple years that I've been diagnosed I have been shishkabobbed, probed, scanned, swallowed various nefarious substances... you name it. Thankfully, nothing yet. Although, truth be told, I've always been a sickly bean. Mostly in my teens, then it got slightly better; but I have struggled with metabolic issues especially since my teens. Lost 100+ lbs on my own during lockdown due to heartbreak. You know how much pain it takes to be so driven to lose that kind of weight within a summer? I was dedicated. Was determined to turn my life around, too. Went back to school (and was an annoying keener, A+ student), found a new beau, moved into a new apartment. I was supremely fit, my hobbies were flourishing, my life was lookin tasty. God... the world was my oyster.

And then a rash popped up on my face one day. Suddenly, I was getting weaker. And weaker. The rash spread along my eyes, to my forehead, my hands. For years I bounced between doctors. I had to put school on hold. No job prospects. Finally figured out what was wrong with me after being carried into emerg by my partner, unable to even walk. Anyway, fast foward through a bunch of medical trauma. I get infusions twice a month, a baby dose of chemo and after a "heroic" dose of steroids as my partner loves to say, I am mostly half dead and the medical system is fine with that.

I am not.

I am not happy with being exhausted and in pain. I have been hitting the gym HARD to build myself back up to a "normal" baseline, by myself. You ever fail to even open a bottle cap by yourself? Nothing like losing bodily autonomy and the threat of oblivion to make you push yourself like never before. I've been eating healthy as hell, the healthiest I have ever eaten. Tried different diets to lower inflammation/lose that stupid steroid weight. I'm no stranger to putting in the work, but unfortunately it seems that there is something terribly wrong with my body, to the surprise of no one. So I started to genuinely take a look at GLPs. Got some free pens. It's been two months on them. What a world of difference this is making. The rashes aren't disappearing, but I'm not nearly as fatigued anymore. Before, I had to be strategic; gym and no detours for the day lest I be bed ridden the next. But now? It's insane, I'm so excited. I just tackled 8 different issues at home. The overall inflammation seems to be lessened. My brain fog is slowly, slooowwly lifting. I think I might actually have a future. I might no longer be a burden. And... that's why I'm here. I want to see where peptides can possibly take me. What's the alternative, really? And maybe along the way, we can learn a thing or two.
