New member from the Twin Cities. I have been on and off trying to lose weight for a couple of years now. I recently turned 50 and I am still trying to stay active and athletic, but have been lugging around 20-25 pounds more than I used to. As a rock climber of 30 years, this runs counter to my goals. I first tried Noom, which successfully got me down from 170lbs to 150lbs, but I was hungry all the time and it was unsustainable for me and I quickly shot back up to 170lbs. I then tried intermittent fasting, and after a quick 4-5lbs loss, I found it unsustainable as well.
With that said, the real culprit has been my alcohol consumption. I decided that I wanted to try GLP1s because I have heard that for some it reduces the alcohol cravings. I started Retatrutide two weeks ago, and have found my desire to drink alcohol seriously diminished. I went four days in a row without alcohol for the first time since the Covid lockdowns.
So far I am down 4-5lbs in two weeks and I am unsure if I will have success this time, but I am optimistic. Lurking in this forum has given me a lot of great information to allow me to make informed choices about this journey.
