Hey everyone, it's great to finally be posting! I've been reading along for a bit, trying to get a feel for how things work around here. Please feel free to call me out if I break any rules or step on any toes.
To give you a little background, I'm an older married woman down in SoCal (think wildfires, lol). I've struggled with my weight my entire life. Growing up, I internalized this idea that I wouldn't get anywhere or find a husband unless I slimmed down. It wasn't until recently that I finally grasped the metabolic side of things and accepted that I really can't lose weight or keep it off without medical help. I did manage to drop 60 pounds (from 248 down to 188) over a couple of years during the pandemic. That felt pretty magical since my appetite just vanished. It was my very first taste of having "no food noise." But last year, the weight started creeping back up. I felt totally out of control since my habits hadn't actually changed. I'd be maintaining for a bit, and then suddenly I'd shoot back up to 205.
I told my doctor I had no idea why I was gaining or how to fix it, and she brought up GLP1s. I hadn't really been looking into them, but I took a few days to think it over and went back in December 2025 for my first 2.5mg shot of name-brand Zepbound. My appetite disappeared right away, and it was like music to my ears. Fast forward a little over five months, and I'm down to 175. I've been using food noise to figure out my dosing schedule—basically, if I start hearing it again (usually anywhere from 5 to 14 days in), I know it's time for another shot. I thought I was still on 2.5mg, but I realized after four months that I messed up the math and was actually only taking 1.66mg. Lately, I've been stuck in a loop of gaining and losing the same 4 pounds every week, so I threw in 2mg of reta once a week.
I'm getting close to running out of supplies. I have some more stashed away, but I'm holding off on injecting until my test results come back. The last tirz kit I tested showed up as "ND," meaning no tirz was detected. I'd really love to join a group buy to split the testing costs, but I'll happily pay full price if it means I can be sure of what's in my pen. As for exercise, I work out at home and go for walks when I can, though my chronic illness gets in the way more often than I'd like. I've been thinking about signing up at a local gym, too. It's probably about time I started lifting weights.
I've already picked up so much just from reading everyone's posts. I'll likely stay pretty quiet in the background, but I hope to chime in every now and then if I have something useful to add. And I promise I'm not usually this long-winded!
