Hello all - so glad I found this forum!
My introduction:
I started my experiment with reta about 3 weeks ago. Right now I'm dosing 1mg/week split up into two 0.5mg doses, and so glad I started low because WOW. This stuff is legit.
The reason I decided to give this a shot (pun intended) is because back in 2017, I lost 160lb on my own (SW: 301lb) through low-carb, strength training and hiking. I've maintained this for almost 10 years, and have put on a significant amount of muscle in that time via training in a powerlifting gym 3x/week, and have great muscle definition until menopause hit.
Being a girl sucks sometimes.
Despite changing literally nothing about my training and fuel, I was getting "puffy" and put on a noticeable amount of subcutaneous fat in the last two years. I've been on the estradiol patch for two years which was great for my sleep and mood, but did f* all for my weight. Added test-c (injectable) a year ago which was awesome for putting on mass and libido, but again, no positive impacts on my ability to complete a cut.
3 weeks in on reta (I'm still on a low-carb diet) and I've dropped 8lbs - more weight than I have in the past two years of trying and failing - which is mind-blowing. I have more energy, no negative impacts on my lifting and hiking, my RHR hasn't changed at all (my normal is between 46-51bpm) and aside from a slightly lower HRV (still balanced) and waking up at 4am in the bloody morning most days (getting around 7 hours per night) I haven't had any adverse side effects.
I've never been on a GLP before so I'm basically playing this by ear for the moment. I'll see how it goes over the next 4 weeks and if I notice it being less effective, the plan is to titrate up 0.25mg/week for four weeks, then re-assess.
Thanks for giving people a place to have candid discussions on reta. Much appreciated.
