I have no idea how to use crypto safely to make a purchase.

I'm wanting to make a purchase through a vendor who uses crypto but don't have the slightest idea how to go about it. I though about maybe using MoonPay but even that seems unclear to me (guess how old I am 😉 ). I was considering using Emmy at ERP. What's my firsts step? Thanks.
There are folks who will do your crypto buys for you for a fee (the one I looked into charges 3%).

I'm all ears as to suggestions.
Go to stairwaytogray.com go to the bottom and join the TG group. They have a vendor list with the payment types etc. Obviously do your research on the vendor you choose.

Also the site has great information so don't skip that either.

I'll look into any that you might suggest. PM me if you'd feel more comfortable.

I'm literally still not allowed to discuss sources at my rank. But what I told you was a great resource to find what you need.

I noticed that. Weird because we have similar #s of posts/likes/time since joining. Sorry. Didn't meant to put you in a bind. Feel free to answer when your rank changes.

Yeah no idea what ranks up, doesn't make any sense lol. Maybe tomorrow because it will be 2 weeks?

Thanks but I already did and that prompted me to make this thread.
Then why not post this thread in the crypto corner section? I’ve read countless threads that are full of great advice that I’m confident would have gotten you past the “what’s my first step” stage. 57 posts in 17 days gives the appearance of prioritizing “ranking up” over learning. You do you, but don’t be surprised when there aren’t a ton of folks falling over themselves to spoon feed.

Thanks for the tongue lashing. Ever consider that when new people get here they have a lot of questions because some of them (me) don't know jack about using crypto? Take it down a notch before you start doling out judgement as to my motivations, please.

As I mentioned, I read through the crypto section and IMO it was too much information going 12 different directions to be helpful to me. So I thought posting in a different sub might get me out of the muddy waters.

I hope your concerns are alleviated.

I can't figure out any crypto but the telegram wallet was super old people user friendly and it just connects to your paypal account and makes it all happen. I know ERP is on telegram so they probably use that.

No shame going the PayPal/Alipay/ whichever route. Same ish risk based on vendor reputation anyway afaik.

Crypto has a higher margin for user error. They say just copy and paste but I’m the type to input the same simple equation on a calculator multiple times “just to be sure” 😂

If you really have read the entire Crypto Corner forum front to back twice over, I applaud you. I’m only halfway through and I’m STILL hesitating to pull the trigger. I have a general idea of the route I wanna go, I’m just stuck on exactly how I want to onboard.

There's literally a step by step guide that walks you through each individual step. I don't know what anyone else here could possibly do to break it down more than that for you.

So that's why so many new people here are still confused like me?

I was confused as well. But then I set aside some time and got my phone out and started going through it step by step. I got hung up a couple of times, looked up the faq on Exodus and managed to do it. It's intimidating, but at the end of the day, it's really not as hard as it seems.

That said, you can go to Marketplace Vendors and I know there's at least one regular vendor there that specializes in offering non-BTC payments. He's taking a significant risk in doing so, so he prices accordingly. Their product is definitely higher priced than other vendors. However, if the convenience of doing Venmo, Cashapp, or other payment type is that important to you, then it may be worth it.

For my first time, I just purchased through Exodus wallet through venmo as my bank blocked any crypto even bank transfers, which was a big headache but once I got venmo working it was pretty straightforward.

You’ve clearly never had a tongue lashing if you think that was one.

The search feature for “PayPal” or “non-crypto” will give you tons of resources for vendors who take those alternatives forms of payment. Likewise, looking at all of the recent vendor posts, including the marketplace vendors, one by one will show you what payment options are out there, which is what I did and summarized in a comment on a thread months ago. (As others have said, vendors who start out taking PP typically soon stop after their accounts are frozen.) Several people on this thread also gave you places to go find that kind of information as well, but stopped just short of handing you a list of vendors.

Similarly, there are tons of crypto guides out there and threads including one from a member explicitly saying they had 10 years of crypto experience and are here to help. Did you reply to that thread or that person individually and ask for help?

The bottom line is people here are more than willing to help, but typically expect some indication you’ve done some legwork yourself. As it is, it appears as though you are posting for engagement for the sake of your forum privileges. Maybe that’s not true, but perception is someone’s reality. But I guess you’re getting there even if it’s just by some of us suggesting you research more. You’ll be a specialist in no time!
