For those that started on tirzepatide before switching to reta how did your side effects compare?

I’m considering switching as the fatigue on just 2.5mg of tirz is killing me on the first 3 days after I inject. But it’s not clear if reta would be any better.

I'm titrating down on tirz while upping my reta.. Was on 10mg of tirz, now I'm at 5mg tirz and 2.5mg reta. For me, side effects are the same as titrating on tirz. I sleep awfully the first few nights after I pin. Also, some skin irritation as well.

I had sulfur burps on mounjaro and after a while they went away. Now I’m starting with reta as well and the sulfur burps are back but they ‘taste’ different. They are more intense 😝 For the rest nothing noticeable for me.

I've realized my sleep is HORRIBLE on Reta. I slept a lot better and longer on Tirz. I plan to bring my dose down on Reta and fully switch back to Tirz. Also, reta isnt really helping lose much weight compared to Tirz. Seems to work the same for me, except my sleep sucks and my HR is up.

That increased RHR was the killer for me.. went from mid 50's up to low 60's with just a 1 mg add of Reta (Split Dose @ 500 mcg). My sleep has always been kind of bad (diagnosed with UARS) and when the "Reta-somnia" hit I pulled it out. on 7.5 mg of Tirz now and all is good. Yes, same as many with the RHR increase but not as bad as from Reta. YMMV! Good Luck!

Reta has rocked my sleep I'm trying to figure out what to do. Might have to make the switch as well...

Yeah I started on Reta and went to Tirz because of the RHR increase mainly. Sleep was bad the first two months on Reta. Someone said to eat carbs before bed because waking up might be from a cortisol spike? I don’t remember the details but if you search around there’s info out there.

Went the opposite way. Did Reta to lose the weight and then switched to Tirz for maintenance because of Reta sides.

Tirz makes me maybe a little more tired after shot day, but that has been the only side. I split dose and do 1.5mg twice a week.

Reta gave me insomnia but nothing a little CJC no Dac + Ipa or Tesa + Ipa couldn’t fix in the evening. Basically, Tirz and Reta are very different for me and I suspect that is true for a lot of people. Not all bad or all good. Just different.

You really won’t know until you try, but I recommend skipping a few pins of one before starting the other so that you know for sure what is doing what.

I must be rare, I've had no negative side effects from reta or tirz. Currently doing both, I've never had a higher heart rate or anything & I sleep great. I'm sorry to those of you who have experienced anything negative though, that really sucks

What dose?

Same ones I had with Tirz...nausea to varying degrees and the trots to varying degrees.

I had basically no adverse sides on Tirz or Reta.

I only did Tirz for a ~month and it seemed to make me more regular compared to my baseline. Reta doesn't seem to improve as much as Tirz, but still probably better than baseline (recency bias and such makes that a hard thing to accurately gauge.)

How do you like the combo and whats your dose? My RS is on reta but got a free kit of tirz, might stack them

Personally, I started on tirz for about 1 1/2 years. I lost 65 pounds and it pretty much made me feel better overall. Sleep was not affected, honestly. Now the reason I added Reta was because at 15mg Tirz it wasnt hitting the same. My body was pretty used to it but I was maintaining easily. Going forward I plan to focus a lot more on working out and a healthy diet on Tirz. The first time around, the only working out I did was 15-20,000 steps a day at work, which is a bit and was effective, but I need to add weight lifting. Anyways, g'luck if you make the switch, I dont think you'll regret it though.

That's great, honestly haven't tried Tirz yet i think i might do it to see the difference in feeling/effects. I literally only sleep 6 hours on the dot and any attempts to keep sleeping are futile. Other than that there's no side effects other than bloating which makes sense from the slowed gastric emptying. I love how reta makes me sweat during my workout actually so that's a positive especially with incline treadmill.

I had some mild GI symptoms when starting Tirz. Reta has been harder. Had skin aches the first month and now it’s my elevated heart rate, it makes me panic. I’m probably going to keep Reta pretty low and keep Tirz higher. 7.5mg Tirz and 3mg Reta currently.

It is a pretty low dose so far, but given the symptoms only last 3 days, it would be worthwhile splitting the doses to 1.25mg twice a week, the lower peaks might help reduce the fatigue. I would suggest trying that first before swapping to reta. Tirz and reta are really more similar than different , and there is no way of knowing if it would be better with reta without trying it.

The only other issue is whether you are in a big calorie deficit or not hydrating enough that could also make fatigue worse.
