Hi all, I love this thread, it feels like I belong! I just turned 50 last week & just started Reta on Monday. (Anyone else struggle reconciling being in their 50s but feeling mentally like they're still 30?)
I never really had perimenooausal symptoms except weight loss became harder in my 40s. I've always eaten ketogenically since the late 1990s, been moderately active but weight gain skyrocketed in my 40s after fertility issues. I had multiple miscarriages (11 of them) & the NHS put me on mass doses of medication which heaped on the weight. Plus it made my liver enzymes skyrocket, too. Hoping Reta will help with my liver
Suddenly, over the past few months I started to cry. Not just wee tears, I'm talking gut-wrenching sobs and a sadness & despair to accompany it. I'm not a weepy person so this has been disconcerting to deal with period, let alone with the depth of emotion! Plus, my joints started aching so badly that I can hardly walk or go up steps and I can hardly get more than 5 hours sleep.
I went to my GP who had to refer me to a hormone specialist because I have had blood clots & have breast cancer in my family, so it looks like HRT won't be an option for me.
Sigh. Does anyone know of other options for me to look into? Perhaps the natural supplements someone has mentioned prior? I take a lot of supps already but nothing helps with sleep or the weeps. Maybe with reta and hopefully weightloss will miraculously fix my Weeping & joints
