This morning I kept waking up with my heart racing. Feels like really bad anxiety. I titrated up pretty quick with Reta because I had almost no symptoms but I’m assuming I need to lower my dose. I’m on 4mg Reta and I read that glucagon activity only really kicks it at 4mg and higher?

Does it seem like I should lower my dose? Does splitting it help? Or is it just a part of it?

Also I’m now a GLP enthusiast 🥳🥳 woot woot! Yall are great

I'd say back down a little on the dose and see if that helps. Raised/racing heart rate is a super common side of reta, and the one I hate the most for exactly the reason you've noted here. You'll likely have that raised RHT no matter the dose, but if you titrated up faster than you could adjust to it, maybe try for 3mg or even 2mg for a week or so just to see if that helps. If you don't notice it feeling a little less anxiety-inducing then you'll know it'll be a thing at any dose and can go back up. But if it does improve, then stick with the lower dose a few weeks and then move up. (IMHO, dealing with sides like insomnia and nausea are far more "just suck it up" issues for me, but a racing heart and anxiety is a sign to reassess).

Yes that’s exactly how I feel. Any symptom I’ve had on anything else has been totally fine. But this anxiety is rough. Might just stick with Tirz if it doesn’t get better. I just want that glucagon activation. 🙁

Myth. Do meditation, and focused breathing exercises. Look into telmisartan. My RHR used to be around 100. It came down to 66 and after starting Reta its now 72, 21 days and 4 shots in. Are you predisposed to anxiety, neuroticism, as measured by the Big Five test?

I never went above 2.5mg of Reta for that reason 🙁 I already had some issues with tachycardia and anxiety and was worried about it getting out of hand. I ended up adding Tirz and increasing that as needed instead. I still left the 2.5mg of Reta - my RHR has increased by about 10 over the last 2 months. Research reading indicates that is pretty normal and it usually starts getting better after many months of use.

I have PTSD and bipolar so I definitely have a lot of anxiety in general. An edible did calm my anxiety but I’m going to lower the dose and see if it helps 🙁 it’s too uncomfortable for me..

Of course, Reta does raise the heart rate, but I’m pretty sure this is more a result of not staying hydrated enough, especially since it even suppresses thirst. I’d really try to get your electrolytes in, especially potassium, because a deficiency can immediately cause heart racing and palpitations, if you don't wanna drink electrolytes, try bananas or dates, they are high in potassium

I also suffer from anxiety and I'm going through a very busy period at work. With 2.5 mg, for the first two or three days I felt my resting heart rate was very high, sometimes reaching 90 bpm.

I solved the problem by lowering the dose to 1.5 mg and then to 2 mg. After 5 months of use, it helped me reverse dieting and increase my calorie intake, and even then my body fat percentage didn't increase.

Now I'm on 3 mg divided into two weekly doses, and my resting heart rate is perfect at 70 bpm.

And I completely agree; drinking 3-4 liters of water with electrolytes is key. Every night I take 600 mg of magnesium bisglycinate.

As soon as you start thing about it. It gives you that anxiety that's raising it.
