GLP-1 - what are your non-scale victories or goals?

For me (and what I’ve seen a lot of others mention), the biggest non-scale victories go way beyond the number:

Food noise being quiet for the first time in years

Eating to fuel instead of chasing cravings

Feeling “done” with a meal and actually stopping

More consistent energy throughout the day (no big crashes)

Better sleep and less late-night snacking

Clothes fitting better..even before big weight changes

Less joint pain/inflammation

Improved focus and mood

Not structuring my whole day around food anymore

Goals-wise, I’m aiming for:

Building sustainable eating habits for maintenance

Keeping protein high and muscle intact

Having a healthy relationship with food long-term (even post-GLP-1)

Consistency over perfection

And Number 1: Being around longer and keep up with my grandkids!

Being able to eat carbs and have my blood sugar stay stable has been a massive one.

But also, this sounds morbid, but I don't mean for it to be. I'm excited to be able to fit into some of my moms vintage dresses. They're beautiful and I know she'd be so happy someone is still loving them & wearing them and I'm thrilled it gets to be me lol.
That's so sweet! <3

I was able to do some postures in yoga class today that I haven't been able to do in a while. My belly made it tough to bend forward because I couldn't breathe in that position. Now that it is smaller, I can do those things.

My wife also told me she noticed I had slimmed down. She's in great shape, so that was a big win for me.

two new NSV's:

My in-office day was today, and I went to visit a cute little gen-z coworker, who exclaimed over my waist in cute little gen-z language. It sounded like "OMG your waist is just GOALS in that shirt and those pants! I'm talking SNATCHED!" That made me proud and pleased and I'm delighted the Youth think I look nice.

Also, last night I rode my bike out to a strip mall, and popped into a little private dollar-store type of shop. I bought a tiny pair of purple hiphugger skinny jeans because they looked neat. I couldn't try them on, but thought they were worth a ten dollar bet. They fit perfectly and now I know what I'm wearing out to my friend's birthday drinks in a few weeks. Look at me, I can just buy a pair of purple hiphugger skinny jeans at a dollar store after I hold them up to my hips and check to see if they look like they prolly fit, and they WILL probably fit and look neat!

These are the successes that the insurance companies should be looking at , as opposed to trying to figure out what new corporate jet to buy.

Some interesting ones.

Had a cop ask for my phone number when she pulled me over. 😁

ast year I broke my turkey hunting seat. This year I didn’t feel the need to get the XL version.

I accidentally bought “slim fit” uniform pants for work. They hug my legs a bit more than the relaxed fit ones I would normally wear. At first I didn’t like them. But they grew on me a bit
As I was reading I said he broke his turkey while hunting? what the? then saw seat and understood.

My NSV goals are lowering A1C its borderline right now. Lowering Cholesterol so I can get off Statins. And then to have my tie hang away from my body instead of laying on my stomach when I go to work

Statins are not just to treat lipid numbers, usually deciding to start them for anyone is based on a calculation of ten year cardiovascular risk, and if that risk justified statins in the past, then having better lipid numbers does not change the fact that that risk exists/existed.

If you have highish hb1ac and high lipids then you absolutely have metabolic syndrome so you are at high cardiovascular risk ( depending a bit on age ). Improving those numbers with weight loss and GLP drugs is still a good thing, but stopping statins in that context can be a mistake. It is quite possible that time spent overweight or obese with metabolic syndrome has already caused damage, which you most likely do not know about. I would consider getting a coronary calcium score done before stopping stains. Statins stabilise existing plaques, preventing them from rupturing and triggering a heart attack, not just lowering lipid numbers.

I only got diagnosed with a bit of assymptomatic "class b " heart failure and coronary artery disease after losing most of the weight. And in that context statins plus antiplatelet drugs and ezetimibe probably drop the chances of serious issues by about half.
