Hi everyone, I'm due for a gastroscopy soon for a checkup. I've been taking Retatrutide for a couple of months. How long before should I stop taking it? Have you ever done the same thing? I was talking to a doctor friend of mine and he said it doesn't slow down digestion. But I think he's not very knowledgeable about Retatrutide and is saying things he doesn't know.

AI says 1-2 weeks before. I had an endoscopy recently and I stopped it 8 days before and had no issues.

They had brought it forward to Friday and I had the injection last Thursday, I could go if with 8 days it went well for you. I had thought about not eating the day before.

I have a colonoscopy and endoscopy same day on the 26th of this month, took my last shot on the 15th. Hoping ill be good to go.

Various guidelines on this throughout the world. Locally where I am you need to stop it 2 weeks prior and be on a free fluid diet for 24 hours prior to having your procedure. If I were you I’d also extend my fasting period prior to the procedure as much as you can tolerate.

Above all else, please please absolutely tell your anaesthetist/anaesthesiologist that you are on this medication prior to the procedure. If they aren’t familiar with the medication spell it out for them that it’s similar to ozempic/mounjaro. Most doctors will never have had of Reta but would know the others.

I’ve been present during the Gastroscopy of a patient who was on tirzepatide. We could quite literally see + identify the exact food he ate the night before as it was sitting undigested in his stomach still.

In the US, the American Society of Anesthesiologists recently changed their guidance and now no longer require patients to stop their GLP meds. It seems many practices have not updated their policies. I would recommend pushing back if they tell you need to stop. They may not budge, but most people really shouldn't have to stop.

And what about the food that might be in your stomach? Should you change your eating habits in the days leading up to the test?

I just had a colonoscopy on the 26th of this month, 9 days off of Rita and Triz, no issues. Judging from my observations, I would not want to go with just a week.

Noooo, apparently I have some other issues and the they want to wait. Im getting the throat and butt stuff done and requested anesthesia. But my potassium is really high?; fuuuuuckkkkk. Im going back in to have it tested early next week.

I let myself get to.fucking fat and now I have health issues from it

Yea I wouldn't trust a week either, ill take my last shot on the 29th, which will put me 10 days out on my procedure if my newest labs will let them do it at all. My new date is the 10th of june.

The reason he doesnt trust less time, is if you have to much food in your gut when you have these procedures, they won't work, Dr's cant see inside of you, and its a wasted effort. You'll need to go through it all over again for a proper result. Gastric slowing is real.

I thought you meant much more than 10 days, I know about gastric slowdown, I would be curious if it was possible not to eat solids the day before and not have problems with a full stomach

I had mine in March and they didn't have me stop the glp 1 shot, they said its not an issue. Now all supplements I take they had me stop a week before.
