Anyone pinning their dogs? I got a 15.5 year-old Westie who is a little blind, a little deaf, has a little arthritis, very incontinent (she's on diapers indoors), dry eyes and you can tell that mentally she's not always there (but she's not always not there either, she still recognizes everyone and ask for pets, but she has that "I walked into this room to do something but I can't remember what" look a couple of times a day).

I know she's on borrowed time, but a visit to the vet a couple of weeks ago for stomach issues was fixed with antibiotics but she was otherwise healthy. Is there anything anyone has given to their dog just to improve their quality of life, or delay aging issues, that would be useful for these elder years when they're not sick or in pain but moving slow and a bit forgetful?

You have my sympathies, we adopt Senior dogs and have been through this several times now. I haven't injected my dogs with any peptides, but I have dealt with the things you've mentioned a few times.

They're are some cheap generic eye drops, you can use to help with the discomfort of dry eye. The deafness, maybe part of the Doggy Dementia, she just checks out for a bit and can probably hear you and just can't respond to it. The Arthritis you could consider Librela (betinvetmab) a monthly Sub-Q injection for Arthritis pain. I've use it for 2 of my dogs, we thought it actually did accelerate the Dementia in one dog a bit though. The other we used it to better her quality of life that was left. Towards end of life for pain, it was worth of every $$. The Doggy Dementia, there is a pill Selegiline (Anipryl) we had bought and given a few times. But we decided it was time for her and just donated it back to the Vet, to give to someone else and can't say if it was going to work or not.

Separate note: my Husky is 10, he's on Adequan (sorta like Librela) but more similar to PPS (Pentosan Polysulfate Sodium) for horses and humans (which I take) There is a chew for dogs Ursolyx, to help maintain muscle mass. My Husky has pretty bad Arthritis, the Adequan is working well for him and the Ursolyx were just a couple months in so time will tell, come next Vet visit.

Wish you the best of luck.

I have a senior cat that I would spend hundreds a month on for a fountain of youth peptide if one existed 🙁

I briefly thought about giving her Ghk-Cu but I am just concerned it might be contaminated with other peptides, heavy metals, or just other dangerous substances. I mean, it's not likely but also not impossible. I'll take the risk of poisoning myself lol but I don't wanna accidentally poison my cat. Probably the best we could do is give them daily play and exercise and hope for the best. I also give her a fish oil and some microgreens every day to hopefully stave off dementia.

Unrelated but important. if you take PPS, please please have yearly dilated eye exams and tell your provider that you take that medication.

If you do not currently, you can ask the provider prescribing the PPS to send a referral to one for monitoring.

Thank you, I get where PPS has it's beginnings from. I take a GLP-1, PPS, Tadalafil and the fact I have a little bit of Keratoconus is a progressive eye condition where the cornea thins and bulges into a cone shape, causing blurred vision, distortion, and high astigmatism. Since I got diagnosed with the Keratoconus, I've been more proactive with my eyes and been fortunate it hasn't progressed from 1st diagnosis. I get my eyes checked every year and may move to 2X a year at some point. I'm in my 50's and still get by with single vision lenses and little vision change every year.

I’m talking about the recent discoveries around PPS maculopathy, causing damage to the retina and causing vision loss. At this time, it is still undergoing studies and research. It is suspected to be duration and dose dependent but there is concern that it continues to progress after discontinuation.

There are people who need this medication to lead a fulfilling life so I will not say that people should not take it, but they should be monitored for any changes so they can make informed decisions.

As for the keratoconus, since it’s a genetic predisposition, it’s recommended for any children you have to be examined annually. Also no eye rubbing for any of yall because that is known to cause progression.

There are procedures available to reduce/prevent progression like cross linking and CTAK. Scleral and gas permeable lenses are also very helpful in providing patients with the best potential visual acuity.

I had a Siberian Husky years ago that was diabetic. Not peps but I gave him insulin shots twice a day for his last five years. We had noticed he was drinking a lot of water and peeing all over the place. We took him to the vet where he was diagnosed, the vet told me how much insulin to give him and he seemed to feel much better.

Thanks for the reply and sorry for my late reply! She's on prescription ointment for her dry eyes, as that's something she developed early in life and just got worse with age. We tried Librela but after about a year it didn't seem to work as well anymore. Haven't looked into the other options you mentioned, but I'll research them.

I give my girl epithalon and thymulin
Have you noticed any benefits/changes? I have epitalon at home, and on a thymalin cycle myself.

Yes, I suspected diabetes about a year or so ago when her water drinking got insane around the time her incontinence got worse, but her bloodwork came back fine. She just had bloodwork done a couple of weeks ago again and still clear for diabetes.

For peptides for pet arthritis, BPC is the only one that seems popular, if there is a popular peptide for pets. It is considered lower for cancer/growth risk than TB-500. Dosing is given at Peppy's.
