Neither does dropping the vial.
Yes, it can.

DO NOT DROP: MECHANICAL SHOCK IN VIALS CAUSES CAVITATION, PROTEIN AGGREGATION AND PARTICLE FORMATION - PMC

Industry experience suggests that g-forces sustained when vials containing protein formulations are accidentally dropped can cause aggregation and particle formation. To study this phenomenon, a shock tower was used to apply controlled g-forces to ...

Good info but applies to liquids (reconned peps), not vials of lyophilized powder.

no, they're fine. I'm sure they've been dropped in shipment anyway.
Probably drop... kicked to your door. And mine. Delivery guys are so angry these days.

I cant believe this thread is still active. Viva the dropped vial thread, I guess.
Hey it’s more relatable and less inflammatory (pun intended) than the “reusing my syringes” thread! 🤣

I literally had a package that the delivery guy threw at my door just last week. Apparently he felt climbing the 5 steps of my front porch was to much effort. He didn't know he was on the security camera. Lots of videos of stuff like that out there its actually surprising that vials treated so poorly in shipping don't get more messed up then they do.

Depending on what surface you dropped it on and from what height, I would do a little cost benefit analysis on using them. The one I dropped shattered into a million pieces thus removing the conundrum for me. Yes, the do get jostled in transit/delivery but there is at least some protection via case/box/packing material there. You'll get varying opinions on this subject, so it essentially boils down to where you fall on the risk aversion scale.

I love that this is even a discussion. I wonder if while being shipped from china if the merchandise is ever dropped.
