No GP is ever going to encourage you or condone taking drugs that are still in testing. FYI, 2/3 of drugs fail in phase 2. Everyone, myself included, is taking a health risk by taking a drug that's not approved ANYWHERE. There are 8000 drugs in clinical trials and several times that in pre-development. No, a GP isn't going to keep track of that nor should they.deleted.user.18 said:-BEGIN RANT-
In your case- that’s very surprising. I should think any PCP would be up to date with at least the up and coming drugs that handle treating the #1 health concern in USA! (Metabolic syndrome) First off, GLP-1 class medications are not just for weight. They treat a HOST of health problems related to hormone imbalances; Second, Retatrutide is head and shoulders above any other GLP-1/GIP med currently approved.

Retatrutide seems more effective, but it may turn out to be bad to take weight off that quickly. Tirzepatide, which is approved, is VERY effective especially when combined with some activity. A doctor will tell you to lose weight slowly, consume protein and do weight bearing exercises. They would also suggest losing weight slowly (1-2 lbs a week).
The concern that doctors have in this weight loss is loss of muscle mass and irreplaceable bone loss plus there's a potential rebound effect from metabolic adaptation.
