@Skidude posted a great video on page 2 of this thread. Start from the beginning of this thread and go to page 2. You're doing very good. You just have to dig a little deeper.swetmo said:Can someone please kindly help educate on filtering....I've never filtered.....should I be filtering ...if so what do I need I've googled I'm confused

Ok. I need an eye roll reaction…AndyPanda said:You are. You are easy to identify too. You are the victims in waiting with your masks donned.![]()

There is a filter on the end before the media goes into the syringe. Buying filters is cheaper. And I only filter the vitamin c serum in an ampule. I’m not talented and always smash the top when popping open..AndyPanda said:And left handed screwdrivers! I THINK they filter on the way into the syringe from the ampule, then you just switch the hypodermic an inject a cleaner fluid.

You don’t need different filters for ampules. The filter needles are an unnecessary expense. Use one kind of filter for everything.esdsafepoet said:After being advised on here to filter, I ordered some of these: https://peptidetest.com/products/tisch-scientific-filter-syringe-22μm-pes-4mm-sterile-individually-wrapped-exp-10-31-27
Seems a lot of folks don't have any trouble without filtering, but I figure I might as well. One filter per vial is not too expensive relative to other costs. After seeing posts about people finding visible stuff in their vials, I was pretty set on going the filter route. Maybe my room air isn't suitable for a biolab, but I rarely see shit floating in it.
As far as ampule filtering goes, I have these for ampules: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D95XVN6 and I would definitely recommend filtering any ampule draws to avoid injecting yourself with glass.

I don't know if this is accurate. The glass from the ampule could damage the finer membrane on a syringe filter. But I'm just theorizing.FlowerFairy said:You don’t need different filters for ampules. The filter needles are an unnecessary expense. Use one kind of filter for everything.

I used them in the hospital when drawing up ampules (I’m old, they don’t generally use them anymore), so I’m going from experience. It was 30 years ago, but experience. Ativan, morphine and mag sulfate used to come in ampules.zpped said:I don't know if this is accurate. The glass from the ampule could damage the finer membrane on a syringe filter. You drew from an ampule with a syringe filter on? They are meant to be used only in the other direction. I'm not negating your experience, but maybe it was a different filter design 30 years ago?FlowerFairy said:I used them in the hospital when drawing up ampules (I’m old, they don’t generally use them anymore), so I’m going from experience. No, I drew from the ampule with a 4mm filter between a needle and the syringe…zpped said:You drew from an ampule with a syringe filter on? They are meant to be used only in the other direction. I'm not negating your experience, but maybe it was a different filter design 30 years ago?

Yes, and you made me research the filter needles- those are the ones for drawing from ampules; they only filter 5 microns vs 22, which catches glass but lets everything else through. Now I’m off to get filter needles, because I filter ampules too.esdsafepoet said:Thanks for the insights. I bought the filter needles when ampules were the only use case I had in mind. GLP filtration is new territory for me. I do think filter needles are cheaper, though, which is an advantage if ampules are your only use case.

I get a box of 100 from Amazon for $51.FlowerFairy said:Yes, and you made me research the filter needles- those are the ones for drawing from ampules; they only filter 5 microns vs 22, which catches glass but lets everything else through.
