Just to preemptively clarify, I am asking the following with genuine curiosity and no negative connotation:

Your post here seemed to me like you are saying Semax and Selank were mediocre noots, and that you were aware of others that would be more beneficial (presumably to assist with a similar set of benefits that Semax/Selank provide).

However your next post, (I know it was in answer to what your favorite noots were) I didn’t quite see the direct correlation to Semax/Selank- and perhaps it wasn’t meant to be.

With all that said, do you have any nootropic suggestions to directly supersede Semax/Selank in efficacy, in your experience?
I wrote a very very very lengthy reply and am incredibly frustrated because it was rejected by the anti-spam filter and then disappeared. Alas.

I'll keep it brief. Selanks MOA isn't known but what we do know is downstream it floods BDNF. This isn't bad but it isn't universally good. Upregulation of nrf2 and trkb pathways leading to increased endogenous glutathione production better for BDNF imo.

For 'noise' I like guanfacine & l-theanine even compared to plenty of anxiolytic Rcs i've tried. guanfacine is insanely pro-cognitive.

For a direct 1:1 swap in for Selank, check out NSI-189 (now ALTO-100 or something), I'm not huge on it anymore but it has been shown in brain scans to repair and actually increase hippocampal volume in healthy and depressed human volunteers. When I did run it I was very sharp and not depressed. Currently in phase 2 clinical trials.

If your goal is immediate effect and to be able dose flexibly, I think IN is the way to go. Bioavailability is higher (~90%) because IN bypasses the first-pass hepatic metabolism, which means your liver isn't breaking it down before it reaches your brain, so you can use less, and you're also placing the peptide more efficiently, closer to point of impact which is your brain and pituitary. All of this means the effects should be more acute. Also, I hope that was a typo and you mean Subq and not IM. Very, very few peptides are administered via IM.
I came here to say the same.

DMT at sub hallucinogenic doses when taken orally is a modulator of the 5-ht2a site. This is incredibly pro cognitive and the co-administered MAO-I is to help prevent the breakdown of the molecule in your system. I couldn't work on high dose DMT. That said, since I see its maybe a rubicon too far for most let me say this.

A great alternative to Selank is NSI-189 taken with Magnesium L-Threonate.

There are some interesting compounds in development for fragile x syndrome right now the most interesting of which is zatomilast which seems to greatly increase dendritic density. There are no RCTs in otherwise healthy humans so I am hesitant to endorse but caregiver ratings and coding score tests.

If you wanna get really wild you can always go for nightly vTNS.

Personally also using a far bit of tropisteron these days.
Huh, I had no idea that microdosing DMT was a thing but here we are. Learn somthing new everyday. You have self-made Excel spreadsheets of this stuff dont you? I ask because I have them for Peptides haha.

Yeah that was a wild ride of a reply lol. We went from DMT to Creatine/ Fish Oil haha.
anyone want to review my peyote + psyllium husk + preparation h stack?

How is this for dementia, my parents seem to have their memories slipping a bit and want to send this out to them.

I love Selank. This has calmed me down and allows me to focus more. I take it when I get to work and the results are amazing for me. It's like it slows down the over thinking aspect for me. You can also make the nasal spray yourself.Great youtube videos on it. You just need the powder form and order saline plus the spray bottle. I do not understand why this isn't used more often instead of the pills doctors give out.

Take a look at Epitalon and Semax, if mild. Nasal sprays for both worked well for my COVID-related brain fog.

Also, Cerebrolysin is the standard, if they would be up for IM injections. P21 with adamantine is also being researched for this, but there are fewer research studies available and none on humans.

Is cerebrolysin safe to buy without a script? It was my understanding it was only being produced by a single European pharma when I last looked into it.

To the mods, I swear I wasn't requesting where to get it from ! It was just a safety question!

Everpharma is the licensed manufacturer. You can purchase it without a prescription from Nootropicsbase and VEV, as well as other sites outside the US. It's the real thing and comes in their packaging, with their instructions. It's available in ~50 countries so they make a lot of it.

Thank you for the heads up. I wasn't requesting where to get it and I am sorry if that was how it looks but that wasn't my intent.

It's fine anyway. It's not strictly a peptide, but more of a cocktail of enzymes, peptides and amino acids.

"Cerebrolysin is composed of enzymatically-treated peptides derived from pig brain, which include brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), nerve growth factor (NGF), and ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF). It also contains free L-amino acids and various oligopeptides."

any experience with the chinese lyophilized cerebroprotein powders? i see them available, it's tempting given the relative expense of cerebrolysin

It's not the same thing at all. It's cerebroprotein hydrolysate and minimally effective. It's just an attempt by vendors to capture part of the business.

I've been on Selank (subq only) for two weeks and… I can't tell anything is happening (if it is) after two weeks pinning a solid dose. Just… nothing. I'm gonna try the nasal spray (if anyone has a favorite method or saline:selank ratio, I'm grateful for all experiential feedback). It may be fair to note that I do Modafinil (through my PCP) and love it. It does wonders for me, although as with everything dose is king. My scrip allows for me to take up to two pills a day, but I have to keep it 1/2 a pill or one whole pill at most once a day. More than that, and I get these weird depression crashes later in the day. Was hoping Selank might help, but it just... does not one thing for me so far. Maybe the intranasal will be the trick for me.

If it's not too personal, do you feel like you were fairly anxious in general prior to starting Selank?

Give this site a read and add what you want each spray strength you want and it will calculate the mix. You will need to register to sue the site but as a site calculator, it is very useful.

Yes on certain things. I know I would let small issues brother me then I would hyperactive focus on them. For me the overall calmness helps me focus and not feel like I have to do 5 things at once. Its kinda of made me a nicer person when it comes to dealing with stupid people.

I think Selank is more effective for me via IN. It's always fairly subtle either way. The spray I made delivers 500 mcg per spray for 1 mg and I have NA Selank. You may have better luck with IN because it has higher bioavailability than SQ, which is filtered by the liver.

Just came back here to say thanks. Intranasal was a TOTALLY different and WILDLY more effective thing for me. As in, subq for over two weeks did nothing for me. On my very first intranasal dosage, there was just this sense of ease and brightening. And I found my mind just appreciating all these little everyday things I enjoy but usually don't notice, from colors and sounds, to concepts, plans and people. It made me see more clearly than I have previously, by far, that I think I've been living with a sort of low hum of depression. And it was like someone wiped the windows clean. While I've been on it intranasally for a few days now, and nothing has quite matched the first intranasal dose. But they have done the same thing in general. I swear, this stuff is remodeling my brain. So thank you for suggesting this, everyone who did. Wow.
