Would anything terrible happen if I continue to buy bitcoin on exodus and also pay the vendors via exodus? Just the commission fee? I can't work out if it's still anonymous or not
Unless you are buying peps in the millions, you should not be worrying about crypto anonymity.

It's technically not anonymous. But that's true to the other methods too. It's also pretty irrelevant.

Something I learned. I transferred in money to my Coinbase account from a bank account. The amount shows in my Coinbase account, but is on hold for 7-10 days as an anti-fraud measure. I can trade within my coinbase account, but I can't send it out to a vendor to make a purchase. So factor that extra time in, if like me, you opened the account to make a purchase.
after some time and multiple transactions that hold time will disappear

Thats is what they were talking about.

USDT is the most common one, but it comes on many different networks.

USDT-trc20 is Tron

USDT-erc20 is Etherium

USDT-sol is Solano

These are the most common ones accepted by vendors. And you need a small amount (a few pennies) of the base network coin in order to send these.
so i have to have a small amount of bitcoin on hand to be able to buy or sell Tether, but I can hold more of the tether in the account if necessary and dont have to hold a more volatile coin like BTC, right? do I need Bitcoin in the wallet im sending it to for payments, or just if I plan on using the exchange of that platform?

What about crypto buying in PayPal and then transferring it to Exodus? Guidance and comments would be appreciated.

I finally got the Exodus wallet. I love it so far, especially since it has a Google Chrome extension.

I've bought BTC from PayPal before, but the Exodus wallet lets you buy crypto too (through an integrated third-party solution called Ramp, which requires uploading your ID).

So, with tether it depends on the network.

Say the vendor takes USDT-sol. This is on the Solano network. You need a small amount of SOL in whatever wallet you want to send the USDT-sol from.

I'm not aware of any USDT that uses bitcoin for the network.

Am I crazy or is BTC easier to get right for newbies like myself? I have only used BTC, even though it seems to cost way more and is slower.

btc is simpler than stable coins. but the fees are higher and it's not stable. So unless you're quoted a price in btc you could lose $20-30 before the transaction goes through and then you've got to send more money.

I had never heard of stablecoins. So (after quick research) are you saying to purchase a stablecoin like Tether (USDT) instead of Bitcoin for less fluctuation in my crypto account? Makes sense, thanks!
Or usdt which is super stable

It's fine if the price is quoted in BTC though because then you're not responsible for the fluctuations. QSC had this problem so many times they switched to converting the USD to a BTC amount at the time the sale was requested. So they would say something like "Send X BTC within X hours" and then you no longer have to think about it.

Finally set up coinbase to buy then transfer to exodus but I'll be on hold for a week and won't be able to transfer until then. Not ideal. Hopefully that won't last long...

Same here. I bought on Coinbase on Saturday and it shows that my hold will be removed today by 4pm.

I buy with Strike and Trade with Exodus.

As for tracking- others may be able to comment
If you DM me your ref links for those I’ll go ahead and sign up. I wanted to DM you myself but IDK if I can’t find where to do it or if I’m too new lol.

I have noticed other options at Exodus for buying crypto like PayPal.
