Can anyone help, my driving license is expired so I’m unable to verify my id on moonpay. Was trying to make my 1st grey purchase, is there a way I can purchase bit coin without having to verify my id?

Can you run out and get a plain state ID from the driver's license facility?

You probably can use a Bitcoin ATM at a gas station. I have never used one of them but I heard that all you have to do is use your phone to scan the QR code linked to your wallet and then feed the machine cash. It will deposit the BTC into your wallet. I believe the fees are higher than purchasing online though.

They're called petrol stations in the UK. ⛽

My passport expired a couple of years ago, and have had no need to renew it. I was in and out of hospital last year, so hadn’t realised my driving license had expired until I tried to verify my id. And after all the posts I’ve seen on here, I don’t want to try paying through PayPal

I don’t know if that’s a thing on uk atms, if it is, I’ve never seen it

If you have no forms of valid ID I can't really think of any way around it other than having someone else do it for you. One of the many ways in which crypto is a goddamn hassle. A few vendors will accept telegram wallet which you can set up with no ID though.

Unless your bank account has expired too, you should be able to make an "old school" bank transfer or easy pay over your banking app?

I suppose that he doesn't have an active wallet yet. Otherwise the did not have to verify his identity.

As far as I know if you are planning to use Moonpay in the UK, you will have to get a valid ID.

After that:

Open banking in EEA & UK | MoonPay Help Center

How to use Open Banking to top up your MoonPay Balance.

support.moonpay.com

This page should put you on the right track. Step-by-step with screenshots.

One time step > link your bank account via Tink

Then just choose Top up from the menu.

Et voilà, now you can buy BTC. Count on having a holding period before you can transfer it out.

This is important:

* Also get a non custodial wallet. Transfer BTC from Moonpay over to this and from there you can pay your vendor. "Grey" payments from an exchange have a tendency to get you in trouble.

*For every step in this process you can send a small amount like £5 first, see what happens, then send the rest. Better safe than sorry.

PS: There is lots of information on crypto on this forum. Please have a look before you dive in.

I wish you all the best!

I can’t currently use moonpay as it’s asking me to verify my id
