I'm frequently burping after eating any meal. I've been on tirz for 3 and half months. I really thought it would go away after a couple months. How do you deal with this? I have tried tums, beno. It's a small side effect considering the benefits. I'm just looking for advice from those who have found a cure. Thank you in advance.

Mine went away after about a month. Hopefully yours will in time

I take Lansoprazole (Prevacid) a PPI proton-pump inhibitor. Really cheap at Costco and I try to catch it on sale $10 for 42 15mg. It can take a few weeks to fully work, but can start to help in a few days. If one doesn't work, try another, your body can get used to one or not work at all on some. I have to change PPI's every couple years, I've been on a PPI for 20 years and will be the rest of my life, because of my weight loss surgery. My heartburn is worse on Reta than Tirz, go figure.

I get the burps for the first day or two after every shot. I haven't found a solution but like RubbaDubba1 I did buy some esomeprazole from costco when it went on sale to try it. It does work well for heartburn.

I've been doing it so long, it's practically more of a supplement to me. But if you're taking Tums more than a couple times a week, then being on something for heartburn is probably better. Not to mention, it makes you rethink coffee, chocolate, spicy food, etc and you know your gonna take that hit to enjoy something whilst taking Tirz. I only need Tums about once a month now, but I take about 40 pills & supplements a day anyways and what's 2 more.

In the studies the worst gastrointestinal side effects were typically in the 2-4 month period after starting while doses were going up. Lot of individual variation in side effects though, but there is still a good chance it might just improve over the next few months. I would not necessarily recommend acid suppressing therapies long term for it but taking a few doses of a ppi to see if it helped might make sense, and if it does, it suggests there is some stomach irritation or reflux and taking it is not a bad idea. Reflux is super common from GLP's.

Never thought about the coffee. I drink quite a bit of black coffee every morning. I'll cut way back and see if things improve. Thank you!

I agree 1-2 weeks might be worth it to almost everyone just to see if it helps but I'd definitely recommend consulting someone who graduated from medical school before adding them for the long term.

I find omeprazole helps if you take it long term, if I need it gone quick I take Pepto bismol and it settles in about 10 minutes. In the U.S I think you have a drug called Simethicone (Gas X) that should stop it.

I’ve found high carbs and high sulfur food trigger it for me.

Be careful with the heartburn though, I aspirated in my sleep and it wasn’t nice.

It can be an ongoing side effect.

I just tell myself I am burping my fat away.

Every burp is another ounce or 2.
There may be something to that... I've seen reports about how the body burns fat and turns it to CarbonDioxide which is expelled from the body as you exhale...

I am aware....which is why I tell myself that...LOL

I am not burping but since I moved to 5mg Tirz I have a 1 big hiccup a few times a day.....weird.

It comes and goes for me. I guess it depends on what I eat. I have been on tirz for 6 months.
