Waddup pepper fam.

I'm 46, male, 5'11", current weight 178lbs.

I'm on 10mg Reta and am gonna give it 3 more months. I have about 15lbs I want to convert to lean muscle mass. I'm in the gym 5x/week and taking in as much protein as I can daily. But, I have an end-goal in sight and wanna discuss different approaches.

I don't want to go on a lower dose of Reta for maintenance. Nor do I want to just quit cold turkey, so to speak.

I am thinking of going back to Tirz, 5mg/week for maintenance and just riding it on out til the wheels fall off.

What do y'all suggest? What has worked for y'all that have went on maintenance and maintained healthy weight?

I'll be in the same boat in about 5lbs. I need to start exercising to get rid of this stubborn belly fat. I also have some dumbbells I need to start using.
Do you use Tesa and Ipa?

Been in maintenance since May 2025. Posted the following some where before..... I did not not wash out and pretty much went off Tirz cold.

On Tirz exactly 1 year almost to the day ( May 30th 2025 I believe was my last day). I maxed at 15mg for 5 months. ( roughly January 2025- May 2025.) The bulk of my weight was lost from May 2024 thru December 2024, when I went from 12.5 to 15). My last 20lbs to hit my goal was when I went to 15mg Tirz. In the last 2 weeks of my Tirz use, I dropped to 10mg and implemented .125 cagri. I then dropped the Tirz all together the next week, began 1mg Reta and with .25 Cagri for maintenance ( no wash out, though I considered it). "

Dropped Cagri November 2025. I inadvertently lost roughly 15 more lbs during maintenance, which is why I stopped the Reta/ Cagri stack. Still at Reta 3mg 1x per week protocol for maintenance. Weight stable, and I can enjoy food.

I think that is a smart call. Tirz is easier on the system than Reta. I did find that my energy level was a little lower than normal @ 4.5mg of Tirz which seemed to be the sweet spot effect wise. I dropped it back to 3.5mg and added 1mg of Reta taken together weekly. Energy level is back to normal and the effect is the same. The change had no impact on my RHR which was important to me.

I am 3lbs from goal of 110lbs. However looking in the mirror I may go to 105. Either way I am looking at what my maintenance will be, I never got higher than 5mg on Tirz. I have been reading up on cagri for appetite suppression so I may titrate down and off Tirz and see if the CAG can give me enough suppression to maintain. Having the food noise back scares the hell out of me.

Anyone taken CAG for just food noise without glps?

Watched a video that talked about how the glucagon effects from Reta will burn the kidneys glycogen. Which is fine at times but some animal studies had shown long term glycogen depletion could cause kidney issues

So when I get to my maintenance phase I think I’ll switch to Tirz, had never heard of cagri before this thread sounds interesting

So what i am getting from this thread is... no one ever completely gets off of reta/tiz, without supplementing something else in?

Some do.

But for example Ive lost over 100 pounds. Currently off glp1s for a medical.procedure, and want to eat EVERYTHING. It just depends on your willpower and how strong you are. If you can eat the right foods and right amounts without glp1s then god bless ya.

Its just that many people here on this site have..... difficult relationships with food and food choices and need the crutch. Me included. I am definitely not making good choices right now and eating things I haven't in nearly a year.

I'm real close to my goal too. After I hit it I am gonna focus on toning more, probably up my calories a little bit and I will stay on my 3mg twice weekly. I am gonna add tesa/ipa soon for a cycle and see how it effects me. When my reta runs out next year I am actually thinking of switching to tirz since it's got better appetite suppression. I don't know, I am just gonna play it by ear for a while.

If tirz worked better for you, I say go back to it.

Why not?

I just reached my goal with reta+cagri, so am asking myself the same question.

I lost most of my weight with tirz alone, so I could go back to it, but why would I stop the glucagon agonist?

I'm currently taking 7mg of reta every 3.5 days + 1.7mg of cagri every 7 days, so I'm thinking that the easiest thing to sustain would be to drop the reta to 1x/week, and add something else 3 days later, also 1x/week:

Reta 7-8mg + tirz 7-8mg

Reta 7-8mg + eloralintide 1mg (I have a kit on the way)

Reta 7-8mg + cagri 1mg

Zepbound (tirz auto-injector) 15mg 1x/week (I have a stash and keep buying it, because my insurance still covers it, and that's what I tell doctors)

I have been trying to figure my exit strategy as well. I'm about 5lbs away from my goal and am currently on pretty low dosages compared to many on here it seems. 5mg of Triz on Monday and 1mg of Reta on Thursday. Getting ready. to test Cagri soon and see if that will fit into my plan. I know me well enough to know quitting cold turkey would be a disaster.
