Just curious how your experience was with the entire process. Interested to hear about any kind of clinical trials, not just GLP-related.
Anyone here ever done clinical trials for money (lab rat for hire)?

I responded to an ad about an oral GLP drug test in my hometown. In fact, that's what led me to look into gray and started me down this rabbit hole. I went to the intake appointment, started through the testing and they admitted that study was full. I was hit with a hard sell to be part of a study that I frankly don't remember what it was for, but it involved a liver biopsy. That was a HARD NO GO for me. Maybe I wouldn't have reacted so strongly against it, but the "lab" where I went for this process was disgustingly dirty. So much so, I was uncomfortable about a blood draw and declined any further tests since the GLP1 study was full.
Yeah, not gonna lie liver biopsy would be a hard pass for me… I take care of patients that are post liver, biopsy, and resection sometimes. Way too high risk of bleeding for a non-medical purposeSun_Seeker said:

When I was in college in the early ‘80s there was a sign posted saying a study was paying $5 for a tube of blood. My sister and I were broke and wanted to eat lunch, so we contributed. I got a call asking if I wanted to participate in a study for a nasal flu vaccine. I said sure- it was good money for very little action. I had to chart my symptoms daily and if I started showing illness I had to chart more. We came in for a randomized “nasal vaccine,” then weekly for nasal washes and occasional blood draws. I got the live vaccine. I spiked a 103 fever, became nauseous/vomited and felt like dirt less than 2 hours after the nasal vaccination was given. I was back to normal in an hour and the study staff thought maybe I’d psyched myself into reacting, because I reacted quicker than anyone else it the study. I didn’t think so, but it was kind of moot at the time. At the end of the semester we were asked if we wanted to participate in part 2- we were isolated in the hospital and exposed to the flu. I don’t remember what it paid, but I covered all but my books for the next semester (remember, this was around 1983- college was cheaper then). I agreed. Spent a week bored out of my mind, but I didn’t care because I didn’t get sick. I didn’t think about it again until about 6-7 years ago- the vaccine my study was for was released in 2017. My one thought was that I was pretty sure the flu had mutated so much since the study that it was likely useless.
