Hey, I bought a 10 mg vial that I reconstituted with 1 mL. So 10 units = 1 mg. I take 5 units per dose. I’ve taken 10 doses so far, so that would be 5 mg if my calculation is correct. But my vial is already empty…

I asked ChatGPT what might have happened. It said that sometimes a bit of liquid can get trapped in the needle or syringe and be wasted. Or maybe I didn’t add exactly 1 mL on the first day by mistake—I’m not sure.

Has this ever happened to you? A vial running out much faster than you expected?

No I haven't had a vial run out much faster than expected and not twice as fast. I even label expected number of doses on each vial/pen.

That being said I would recheck your arithmetic. Because (in most cases) 100 units = 1ml for standard insulin pins. In your post if you had a vial that was 10mg/ml then 10units = 1 mg(not 10). But you do get it right in the next part where you say 5 units x 10 doses = 50 units which should be 5mg.

So something wrong has occurred. In 99.99% of cases this is user error. But I would think that if you were taking twice as much you would notice a difference right away, not after the entire vial is empty, even when its halfway empty after 5 doses. Though this depends on what peptide you are taking (you didn't say).

This has happened to me, however out of a ml recon I might lose 5units or less 5% or so because of the air purging. Losing 50% of your volume is such a large loss, I’m afraid something else is off in your measurements.

For your reconstitution, 5 units would only be 500 mcg and it would give you a total of 20 doses.

it was supposed to. it seem like I probably made a mistake when I reconstituted my vial. It was Reta. I have 1ml syringes, maybe there was a air bubble in my syringue when i took the bac water. That means my dosage is not accurate. My dose was probably more concentrated than I thought on each dose...

If it's any consolation, I made errors on my first couple/few vials,/doses. I write it all down now and label my vials with the dosage and pin volume.

This is kinda unrelated but I lose about 1mg per vial because I just HAVE to get rid of every tiny air bubble in the syringe (even though logically I know they won't hurt me). So I flick all the air bubbles to the top and squirt liquid out until the bubble is gone. Anyone else do this?

I done that a bit a the beginning too, before knowing it was not dangerous. maybe it was a part of the missing liquid ahah

I don't but if you do feel the need, just do that with the needle still in the vial and inverted if that makes sense.

Are you dosing once a week? From my limited understanding, you typically dont want to go past 10 weeks. As for the missing contents of your vial, I have some wild guess, but nothing worth mentioning.

Too many doctor shows on TV squirting out the air and peptide. OP should be at 20 doses at 5 units if he actually used 1ml. My guess, got to be a mistake on the BAC. or a Reta loving ghost.

Are you using a pen? I think I did the same to my 10mg w 1mg. I have no idea what happened. I did keep trying to get out the bubble + I switch with my Tirz for my other weekly dose. I need to buy a 2nd pen so I dont have to do this anymore
