50 female. I had some diarrhea on 2.5 and a little on 5 mg. Decided to go up to 7.5 mg and tolerated it ok. Went from 205 to 165 so far. I’m type 2 diabetic and Mounjaro is the only meds (also take Metformin) to get my A1C down to 5.4.

I had to skip a week due to a procedure and when I took it again a week later (Thursday morning) and became very became very sick Friday morning. Non stop diarrhea and I threw up like 5 times in a row (I rarely ever throw up). Ended up in the ER and they told me that it was because I skipped a week. My endo though said that probably wasn’t the cause. I had diarrhea and nausea on and off until the next Wednesday. I asked the dr to go down to 5 mg. Took it on Friday and was fine that whole day and sat. Sunday I was sick again (some diarrhea but not as much as before) but threw up a bunch of times in a row again. Like I was emptying out everything I ate the last few days. Also have very acidic burps. I did eat more than normal over Thanksgiving but I’ve have had days before when I ate too much and didn’t throw up. Why is this all of a sudden happening and what can I do?

I had one particularly bad week in which I projectile vomited all over my bathroom about 24 hours after taking a dose - I was completely fine for months before that, even took a dose from the same vial that was fine the week before. At one point I felt worried enough that I might need to go to hospital for dehydration because almost all of what I was vomiting was water, yet I felt thirsty as hell - it seemed as if my digestion had basically stopped.

Anyway it cleared after a day or so without hospitalisation - and I took more doses the weeks after that and was absolutely fine. I think some other variable combined that week with my dose to put me over the edge (it might have been alcohol, but that's never been an issue before either).

I don't know the cause. However, I believe that when a person taking a GLP-1 catches a virus that causes gastrointestinal problems, things are often much worse than if the person was not on the GLP-1 drug. I still trying to figure out the cause of an extreme diarrhea episode that left me so dehydrated that I was unable to physically stand and need to call 9-1-1. The doctors are unsure whether it was a virus or the tirzepatide.

Sounds more like maybe undercooked turkey or warm potato salad to me.

I was unusually sick right after my Thanksgiving meal too. I chalked it up to being food I don't normally eat meeting the tirz in my system for the first time - just my 67 IQ take.

I would think this if it happened once but it happened 2 weeks in a row.

Are you experiencing any of this? Pancreas was my first thought too.

Pain

The main symptom is pain in the upper abdomen, which can spread to the back or below the left shoulder blade. The pain can be worse after eating or drinking, when lying down, or when your abdomen is touched.

Other symptoms

Nausea, vomiting, fever, sweating, rapid heartbeat, diarrhea, clay-colored stools, bloating, hiccups, indigestion, and jaundice.

I hate it when the symptoms of one illness are general enough that it can be ten different things. At least when I sprain my ankle, I know what's wrong.

You are going to have to eat those words the next time you are limping around (after dunking) and the doctor is like, "Kong, I've got bad news, it's pancreatitis."

Vomiting is a sign of pancreatitis. Did any of your doctors check you for that?
Yes they checked Lipase but it was in normal range. I also had a CT scan with contrast since the nurse practitioner felt a mass. It’s a larger fibroid.

Oh no. So sorry to hear that. Praying for your good health.
