Switch MJ to Reta Dosage and advice

I was on 5 mg of Mounjaro and had no issues. I recently took my first 1 mg dose of retatrutide, and from that night through day three, I experienced nonstop GI issues. I’m surprised it happened at such a low dose. I’m scheduled to take my second dose next Friday, but I’m unsure whether to go back to Mounjaro or try another week at 1 mg of retatrutide.

You could back your dosage off to .5mg for a few weeks and see if that helps desensitize you to the side effects.

We (my wife and I) started off at .5mg for the first 4 weeks in order to avoid potential harsh side effects and doubled the dose every 4 weeks thereafter with good success in weight loss and lower side effects. It does take a few weeks to get the GI track to adjust to the new metabolism rate.

I forgot to add that the GI track symptoms have been pretty easy to counter treating them symptomatically (ie fiber and magnesium supplements for constipation and plenty of fluids).

Yeah, I switched over to address my fatty liver because of the glucagon component in retatrutide. I’m hoping to see a difference over time.

I've heard it said that the glucagon "doesn't work until 4mg" stated as gospel many times.

I'm pretty sure that's gym bro logic and can be ignored. 😉

Yeah, I’ve had great glucose control with a low dose of tirzepatide. I’m hoping for similar results for fatty liver with a low dose of retatrutide, but I’ll confirm with follow-up imaging in a couple of months..

I was under the impression that the trials demonstrated that the closer you get to 8mg, the better the glucagon activation is, suggesting that Reta has a therapeutic threshold that needs to be reached to maximize its effect.

If that's true, I don't see how micro-dosing is helpful beyond managing side effects, which I think can be largely avoided by starting low and advancing .5 mg over time as your body adjusts.

That said, I don't really know what kind of results people are getting when injecting smaller doses throughout the week. I know from experience that if I hit an extreme side effect like food aversion, it resolves quickly by reducing the next dose. Dose low and slow to start, that seems to be the key to managing side effects.

If you are on lower doses but want to speed up results or you are stalling because you can't dose up (side effects), stack with MOT-c and Tesa, or CJC-1295/Ipamorelin. Those have been helpful for me.

FWIW, my fatty liver completely resolved while on (brand name) tirz which was before I went gray and added Reta.

How long did it take for your fatty liver to improve on tirzepatide, and what was your dose titration schedule?

For most of the time 5mg/week. The last few months titrated up to 10. I lost the weight I wanted to in 8 months (1/4 of my starting body weight). Blood tests after that showed normal liver studies and my doctor took that diagnosis (fatty liver) out of my record.

Quick question. I injected 1mg yesterday because I made a mistake; I actually meant 1.5mg for the first time. Can I inject 0.5mg again today (one day later)? Or maybe I should try directly more 1mg so 2mg total?
