If you live in California, you can request a free sharps removal package that will come with a sharps container and a mail back label. Save the box it comes in for when it’s filled and you want to ship it back. Only for California residents! Don’t abuse: https://sharpstakebackcalifornia.org/

For everyone else, maybe you can share you plug. I know that diabetic warehouse has them and reasonably priced too.

I found the small ones to be a challenge to insert and that they filled rapidly, by going with a larger size the cost also went down drastically as used syringes could "stack" better inside.

I really will not go back to anything without a mailbox door.

The 5 Qts works out to $2 per qt as well so cost and ease of use is why i use these- there are other brands and larger ones, my last one was actually a little less than this but seems to be discontinued or OOS:

Tennessee is great for sharps you just have to use a hard plastic container. To dispose of it all you have to do it tape it shut and label it sharps. Then throw it out in your regular trash. I just use left over protein containers now.

You mean you all don’t just dump them in the local playground?

Hello to you in Tennessee! I have family in Cheatham County. It’s been years since I have been out there but I miss all of the green trees, and Cracker Barrel lol!

I am in California and the company that does our trash also sorts through the trash to further recycle it. We have a recycle bin, but the “trash” bin is also sorted after it is picked up. It would be so convenient to through sharps in a labeled package into the trash. I assume if we did it, an employee could get injured while sorting. Idk. Our trash is picked up by Republic. My friend is a sales rep for them and she says, the workers who sort the trash on the line make $30+ an hour but I imagine they must see some weird stuff.

Now you all on a list somewhere lol.
I'm already on a few, I'm sure. I post too much political content on other platforms not to be.

To build upon the OP, here is one additional "California Exclusive" FREE sharps container/disposal services and one resource that is free inside AND outside of California....if you don't mind telling a white lie 🙂

We have a recycling center here in my county, Fl. Take your full one in, and they give you a new one. Not sure of the size.

Actually I don't think you have to say anything. They simply hook you up with Pureway who then sends box and exchanges when it's full. Excellent service!

Everyone should use it.

Ugh, am I the only one? I love this thing, saves space and It'll cut the 25Guage 1 inch needles I use to reconstitute. They don't recycle trash where I'm at, so no worries there. No sharps container to worry about. Ama whatsits, has it for 1/2 the price listed on Ehay.

Good to know. I often thought that outside of a medical setting that sharps containers were mostly a solution to a problem that didn't exist, especially if you're recapping. But if someone is further sorting your garbage, that makes a lot of sense. We don't do that here, but that's good to know.
