TLDR: I’m new and have no idea what I’m doing

Hi, I’m a 35 year old woman from West Virginia, but the part that’s closer to DC not from coal mining country. I’m about two months into a weight loss journey and still trying to get my bearings. Something interesting about me is I’m in a long-term throuple (this will be important later on in the story).
I never had weight issues until my late 20s. I played sports from middle school through college and then waitressed through grad school. I ate whatever I wanted because I was so active it didn’t matter; even with two pregnancies I was fine. All that changed after I got my first “big girl job” (aka desk job) and I started gaining weight.
I tried random diets throughout the years but between working, parenting, and a rough divorce it never stuck. I’m finally in a place where I feel mentally, environmentally, relationally, and financially stable enough to really invest in being the best version of myself.
I started working out and eating less in September 2025. About two months ago I started taking Tirzepatide. I eat in a calorie deficit according to a somewhat weird meal plan I made up. I basically eat 1200-1400 calories a day, plus one tablespoon of olive oil, and unlimited fruits and veggies. I also run three times a week, weight train twice a week, and do yoga flow twice a week. Overall, according to the body scanning machine, I’ve dropped about 30 pounds of fat and gained 8 pounds of muscle since September 2025.
Here’s where the throuple part comes in to play. My girlfriend, 36 y/o female, was a missionary kid who grew up on a tiny island in Micronesia but has lived in the states the past 5 years or so. The island she lived on was about 11 miles long and didn’t have a hospital, a blood bank, or much access to medications. So she is very comfortable taking what people who have spent most of their lives on the East Coast of the US would call “grey market” medicine. To her it’s just medicine. So she kind of challenged me to consider if my hesitancy is really just my American bias or if it’s actually rooted in legitimacy. So I’m basically here to learn more about everything related to peptides that I didn’t pick up from my local pharmacy.
