The first sample tests were day 1,4 , and 13 with multiple thaw cycles built in between, then putting back into a home freezer to mimick home use. Not a commercial freezer. It was also done with bac water not sterile water that Jano typically uses.

The second test was reconstitute, test, freeze, thaw & test on day 4 and leave in the fridge then test day 30. Also in a home freezer.

There really was minimal difference in the mass and purity. I would feel completely comfortable freezing Tirz for use later if I am taking a break and want to save it. But my last order was $0.25/mg so I am not so concerned about wasting money as I was when I was paying over a thousand a month for Mounjaro pens. And even Reta is cheap now. I am curious how Reta would fare.

HGH does NOT freeze well. Very poorly.

It covers freezing between uses for at least a few times. And the fact that post freeze it last 30days at refrigeration actually validates the paucity of freeze breakdown products, which themselves would be expected to instigate accelerated breakdown.

I don't know if grey and compounded are the same (i'm new here) but the compounding pharmacy i was using highly recommended freezing any vials not currently in use and not unfreezing them until it's time to use them. They didn't mention anything about re-freezing but were very adamant about storing the extras in the freezer while not in use and then in the fridge once used.

Yes, I’ve heard that and find it very reassuring. Your tirz works, right?

Will you share which pharmacy it is and the ingredients list on the vial? It should list tirz and some exipients (other stuff in the solution).

I suspect it’s not complete, though it’s a start.

Interesting that FDA doesn’t require ingredients listed. (Water!). But also how many pharmacies are ordering unstable raw liquid peps from china? They’ve gotta be using lyophilized, raw or finished, which would have mannitol or something like that and be a pain to remove completely. Maybe though.

Anyone who knows differently please correct me!

Do you think it's worth the risk of freezing them? I ordered 10x 60mg vials and I have a 30mL BAC that I wanted to use the entire bottle of (or at least close). It's a lot cheaper to waste bac than it is to waste tirz though

If you always have very clear feelz after a shot, you could freeze one dose and try it.

Best practice is store lyophilized frozen and If you don’t have to freeze recon’d, don’t.

If you need to keep recon for longer than a month then I’d freeze it early to put it in suspended animation to decrease the other things that happen to it.

Even if it lost a few % or so, (and the PTDS numbers say far less) I’d probably not even notice. The error bars on the actual concentration we make is of that order.

And the volume we draw using a syringe isn’t exactly that accurate either.

Where are you getting BAC? Do they make them in smaller than 30mL bottles so you don’t have to throw it away after 30 days? Would be great to find some 5mL bottles if reasonably priced

I’ve only ever seen the hospira in 30s. Supposedly it comes in 20s at 1.1% but who knows where to get that, and I’ve looked.

Someone maybe it was on this forum was making her own BAC, and hopefully she’ll see my question asking how to do that and where she sourced the benzyl alcohol

Let's say it's day 7+, hunger is at its max, you're about to be forced at gunpoint to a pizza buffet, and if you don't Macguyver your way to reconstituting a vial, you just know you'll gain 30 pounds! Under those circumstances, maybe consider preparing your own water. Otherwise, just buy from a trusted supplier and keep some in reserve. It's not about finding the right stuff to put into it, but rather keeping everything else out. The keeping everything else out is non-trivial.

Granted, it's very unlikely you'll kill yourself and if you compare notes with any former IV drug addict, they'll openly tell you all the crazy stuff they used to shoot up with (one told me diet mountain dew). It's just a completely unnecessary risk factor to introduce unless you're in a situation where you can't get access to proper BAC water in a timely manner.

cool thanks. I mean it's not like it's breaking the bank but it's pretty wasteful when I dump out the majority of it. I'm going to do the freeze test when everything arrives. I had also thought about putting the open BAC bottle in a sealed container with 99% IPA sprayed all over it so there is no chance of anything growing. That is the main concern with opened BAC, correct?

Opened BAC will let oxygen into the vial, which accelerates the oxidative breakdown (in a positive feedback cycle as the products continue to increase oxidation). Light and heat also breaks down benzyl alcohol. its expiry date should reflect how long effective levels persist under the recommended handling.

There’s another thread here about whether to freeze the BAC to help extend its life. I’m personally convinced it would, but some people comment that hospira says do not freeze.

Unfortunately ipa doesn’t kill certain organisms, for instance gi viruses, spores, enterobacter, klebsiella, mycobacterium, pseudomonas. It’s better than benzyl alcohol tho.

We don’t need perfect, tho, improving handling should make it safer to use it for longer. As others mention, personal use can be much less contaminated than a clinic where the vial is punctured daily with an indifferent quick swipe (rather than 30 sec and air dry fully without waving it abiut to catch aerosols on it).

I absolutely do agree it seems unlikely one would die from infection, because even though iv drug users used to fill up the ERs in their heydey, there weren’t as many as you would have expected. Getting infections is horrible though and I’d never recommend to do anything less than fda’s 28days and usingn the community standard, hospira, which is pretty easy. (But you always do also need to keep an eye on the provenance and if you’ve already kept the hospira long past its throw away date… you might be fooling yourself how effective it’s going to be.).

If anyone goes the route of making their own BAC, they’d need to be aware of provenance of that stock supplier plus have a source of injectable water, adjust pH, and work in a laminar flow hood with at least merv13 filtration, and PPE… which sounds fun to some of us research hobbyists… but not all…
